shrimp scampi linguine.

My friend Taylor has a wonderful blog Love in Spoonfuls. I actually start off my morning after breakfast reading her blog to give myself some ideas of what to make for dinner while I have my morning snack. It was on her blog that I came across Ina Garten's linguine with shrimp scampi recipe. With a little bit extra of some ingredients here and there (aka more butter, garlic and chili flakes) it was one of the better pasta's I have ever made. Lemony, buttery, garlicy, with fresh juicy large shrimp... shrimply divine.

nicli antica.

Located in Gastown, Nicli Antica is one of the best pizzeria's that I have been to in Vancouver. Their "authentic Neopolitan pizza" satisfies my taste buds completely... just thinking about it as I type this is making my mouth water, even though it was just an hour ago that I was there. You can see pizza getting made through the glass window, from the beginning to the end. The pizza is cooked in a 900ºF wood-fired oven which equals crunchy crusts and soft middles. The pizza is the perfect size for one person, but if you're with guests, splitting a few between everyone will let you have a nice variety of bites. See the pictures for descriptions.

eggs and avocado.

Eggcellent breakfast. All you need (1 serving):
1 whole wheat English muffin, toasted.
half an avocado
1 free range egg, fried over easy
dill cream cheese (mix cream cheese and chopped up fresh dill)
little bit of butter for one of the halves that will be topped with avocado (optional)
sea salt and cracked pepper to taste

You can either put it together as a sandwich, or have it separately (what I did). It's a simple and fresh way to get healthy fats and protein in your breakfast, enjoy!

italian kitchen (at home).

Sometimes Ryan and I go to Italian Kitchen to hit Ryan's pasta cravings since he grew up on it and I rarely make it. I usually get the linguine with jumbo prawns, oregano, capers, and roasted tomato aglio olio OR the tagliatelle with wild mushrooms, asparagus, porcini jus, and chives. I never steer off those two because they're delicious (and few of the pescatarian options on the menu). Ryan always gets the spaghetti with spicy kobe meatballs, with truffle cream sauce, tomato garlic confit, herb ricotta... This time I ordered it too (without the meatballs) and it was still really tasty with a side of braised greens. At home, good company, plate full of amazing pasta from Italian Kitchen, and Jersey Shore (just kidding...;)... great night.

comfort.

Ryan and I stopped by Buddha-full, an organic, vegan and gluten-free juice and smoothie bar that also offers a variety of other snacks. We treated ourselves to delicious smoothies to satiate our late afternoon cravings. I went with the "Peaceful Warrior" made with acai, blueberries, apple juice, banana and agave. Ryan chose the "Tall Totem" - raw cocao, banana, Buddha-blend protein powder, maca, goji berries, and almond milk. Yum. These comfy yet tailored T by Alexander Wang pants were the perfect bottoms to lounge in as we savored the rest of the day.

Wearing H&M sheer blouse, T by Alexander Wang pintuck sweat pant, Zara booties. Purse - vintage Coach. Jewelry - Michael Kors, Nasty Gal.
