last day in tokyo.

My last day in Tokyo (which was also the first day it rained since I got there) was spent eating and strolling around Shibuya one last time. We went to a tempura restaurant there (the menu soley consisted of various types of tempura to choose from) and we had tempura oysters, prawns and a variety of vegetables. Oishi!

P.s. I am now back in Vancouver - but I will still be posting pictures from Toyama, Himi and Singapore in a few days. Have a good weekend!

after tsukiji.

After wandering around the Tsukiji market in Tokyo for a couple hours, we roamed the streets outside and bought some street food as well as tried out some of the delicious fresh sashimi in the restaurants outside. It was amazing.

tsukiji fish market.

Tsukiji Market is the biggest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world and also one of the largest wholesale food markets of any kind. We first went inside where there were hundreds of stalls selling all kinds of fish. Outside there is a mixture of wholesale and retail shops that sell Japanese kitchen tools, restaurant supplies, groceries, and seafood, and many restaurants, especially sushi restaurants. Most of the shops in markets close early, so we ventured out first thing in the morning to make the most of it. There is a new album in my Photography section with more pictures.

ueno.

I have been taking pictures of all my meals on my trip so far (since every single meal from breakfast to dinner and even snacks in between have been out of this world amazing)... but I realized there is no way I can post them all unless I choose random shots from each day. Which I might do still... but I wanted to showcase a few of my favourite restaurants that we visited. The first being this little shack in Ueno, Tokyo - a bright and fun atmosphere. We enjoyed all sorts of Izakaya that was grilled on the charcoal stove on our table, and also had fresh sashimi, crab brain mixed with egg, a variation of nigiri and makis, all paired with crisp beer and some Japanese sochu to end off the meal.

inventory magazine.

Inventory Magazine launched their 5th issue a couple weeks ago, and held a nice personal dinner at Nelson the Seagull for family and friends. We enjoyed South African inspired food and drank wine, while chatting over a family style table. I am so proud of Ryan and the rest of the team at Inventory! This issue can be bought on their online store here or at any of the places listed here.
