ueno.

I have been taking pictures of all my meals on my trip so far (since every single meal from breakfast to dinner and even snacks in between have been out of this world amazing)... but I realized there is no way I can post them all unless I choose random shots from each day. Which I might do still... but I wanted to showcase a few of my favourite restaurants that we visited. The first being this little shack in Ueno, Tokyo - a bright and fun atmosphere. We enjoyed all sorts of Izakaya that was grilled on the charcoal stove on our table, and also had fresh sashimi, crab brain mixed with egg, a variation of nigiri and makis, all paired with crisp beer and some Japanese sochu to end off the meal.

daikanyama to shinjuku.

Daikanyama is very quaint and quiet, filled with designer boutiques and delicious little bakeries and coffee shops. Ryan and I enjoyed the morning here looking in stores such as APC and Tsumori Chisato while eating some snacks. We walked from there back to Shibuya where we had some lunch and then continued on to Shinjuku by train and arrived by evening time. The roads were crowded with people; a mosaic in motion with the colourful outfits of young adults and the black suits of business people getting off work scattered amongst each other. So amazing to see.

shibuya.

Despite the long flight and tiny mishap of getting stuck in a station with no money the first night we arrived, nothing could get in the way of starting the next day with big smiles and excitement. Our first day was spent in Shibuya, one of the major shopping districts in Tokyo. We got a few pictures while it was still quiet since we arrived a couple hours before any of the stores opened. Some great stores in this area include Opening Ceremony, Ragtag (great vintage finds), Beauty & Youth, and Beams. Of course Zara, Forever 21 and H&M (all MASSIVE) are in this area as well, but I steered clear of shops that I could go to back home (embarrassingly harder than it seems). We went to the Margeret Howell shop as well, which was lovely - her collection is amazing - and stopped for a latte in the stores own cafe.

another little preview.

This will be the last of my Instagram pictures from Tokyo, as I am leaving Ryan today to go to Toyama (it is his phone) and so it will just be the Canon and I for the rest of the trip in Japan, Singapore and Malaysia. Here is another little glimpse into what I have been doing in Tokyo, and lots more to come in the future.

preview of tokyo.

Tokyo has been amazing so far. The people, the food, the weather, the scenery, the shopping... absolutely everything. Saving the details for future posts when I get back from traveling (or when I finish uploading the many pictures onto my mac), here is a little preview of Tokyo (Akasaka and Shibuya) taken by Ryan.
