japan.

I've been watching videos and reading the news about the crisis in Japan, and I am truly saddened. Japan is dealing with huge disastrous events that I can never imagine going through. The death tolls are still rising from the massive earthquake and tsunamis, and now the nuclear plant blasts are adding to the catastrophe. If you are able to, please lend support to the victims in Japan by donating: Red Cross, World Vision, Salvation Army.

poutine.
It's a rainy Saturday afternoon, and the cloudy grey skies are making me feel lazy. Fritz poutine with some chipotle mayo on the side was the perfect snack for me. Now it's time to curl up on the couch and start my new read (that I am sure everyone except for me has read by now) The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson. With a cup of hot Earl Grey tea in my hand, I am ready to immerse myself into this thriller.
granville island.
I spent Sunday afternoon at Granville Island picking out some fresh ingredients for supper. The atmosphere there is so lovely, and it's always fun to pick out different things to nibble on while walking around as well. I ended up buying three different kinds of fresh ravioli: butternut squash, sun-dried tomato and artichoke and porcini mushroom that I ended up tossing in brown butter and shallots. I roasted fresh asparagus with olive oil, sea salt and pepper, that complemented the wild salmon that I pan-fried, also dressed in olive oil, sea salt, and pepper and a squeeze of lemon. Lastly, I made a wilted spinach salad with fig goat cheese, roasted tomatoes, and anjou pear. Simple and delicious for an easy Sunday supper!
